Many people do not enjoy cooking because they feel that making a meal is more of a hassle than anything else. In most circumstances the key to enjoying cooking is having what you need properly organized. An organized kitchen can not only prevent the stress of cooking, it can also lessen the cleanup time after cooking.

Organizing your kitchen does not always have to be hard and time consuming. By following these steps you can organize your kitchen and have it ready to cook within only a few hours.

Place all of the everyday utensils close to the stove and sink/dishwasher. This includes, but is not limited to silverware, plates, bowls, cups, pots and pans. Add storage in your kitchen, will help you place all of the most used things in your kitchen in one place.

Separate the rest of your kitchen accessories into separate areas. For example place all of the baking things together. This will help you know where each thing is and make it easier to gather materials when baking.

As for the organization of food it is normally the preference of the organizer. Normally people will organize food by the different food groups. For example, fruits and vegetables should be placed into a crisper and beverages should be put on the door of the refrigerator. All cereals should be grouped together, as should the grains.

Just by following these simple steps you can make your kitchen a more organized place. When your kitchen is organized you will save time on putting away dishes or groceries as well as food preparation.

Many people have chosen to upgrade their window coverings to sheers or curtains from the outdated mini-blinds. For those of you that choose to keep your mini-blinds, you know what a mess they are to clean. If you try to clean them while still over the window you can miss spots or tear them. If you try to take them off and clean them you may not know how to get them back up. The good news is that your problems are about to be solved.

By following these simple steps you can clean your mini-blinds in no time at all and without any worries.

1. Remove the curtains carefully from the window. You will want to make sure that you save every piece that you remove while taking down the blinds.

2. Place the blinds in the bathtub and run hot water over them.

3. Add any type of household cleaner and let sit for approximately five to ten minutes. If your blinds have any color besides white for the string, do not use bleach.

4. Begin to wipe the blinds using only your hands. You will use your hands because you know exactly how much pressure you are applying and therefore your mini-blinds will be less likely to break.

5. Drain the water from your bathtub and begin to rinse the blinds with semi-warm water.

6. Place the blinds outside to dry, and leave them there for a half hour.

After completing these steps you can then put back up your mini-blinds. Be careful not to break any of the blinds and to use all of the pieces that you removed when taking the blinds down. Your blinds should look as good as new.

Cleaning your LCD TV does not have to be difficult. By following these simple steps your TV can look as good as new in just a few minutes.

Gather all the materials that you may need. This will include a Q-tip, two soft towels, and a bottle of LCD TV cleaner or water, rubbing alcohol, and a measuring cup to form your own solution.

When you have all of the materials handy, dust the screen down with one of the dry cloths.

Use the other towel to clean the screen by applying your home-made mixture to it or use the LCD TV cleaner and gently wiping it across the screen.

Use the Q-tip if necessary to clean the crease where the screen meets the frame.

Gently wipe the dry towel once more over the screen to ensure it is completely dry.

If you follow all of these steps you can have your LCD TV screen cleaned in no time. It is important to remember that you cannot press too hard on the screen, because it may bust. With that in mind, it should be easier than ever to clean your LCD TV.

The process of cleaning windows will depend on the type of window that is in your home, but normally the procedure is the same. When cleaning your windows these three simple steps should be followed.

1. Gather the cleaning products you choose to use on your windows. Some people choose to use a window cleaner and an old newspaper. Using a newspaper is an old fashioned way of cleaning windows however it is found to be very effective. If you choose not to use a newspaper any type of towel will do the same job.

2. Tilt the windows so that you can see both sides of the window to clean them properly. The newer windows will have a latch that you can pull in, however the old windows may have to completely come out. No matter what the process, make both sides of the window visible and accessible to clean.

3. Spray the windows with the cleaner of your choice, and wipe with the newspaper or towel. To prevent streaking you should move in circular motions, applying the same amount of pressure. When finished place the windows back in place and start on the next.

By following these simple steps you can clean your windows with little trouble. It is important to know that cleaning windows does not always have to be a long procedure; it can take just a few minutes of your time.

Many people hesitate before choosing a carpet, especially in a high traffic room such as the living room. In many cases this is because if the wrong color is chosen it can through of the whole balance of the house, and no one wants that to happen. Other times it is because they want a specific texture. Choosing carpet may sound like a hard task; however it does not always have to be difficult.

Most of the time people make the task of choosing carpet harder than it has to be. By following these simple steps you can choose the perfect carpet for your home in no time.

1. Quite possibly the hardest thing about choosing carpet for your home is the texture. The best way to solve this problem is but getting carpet swatches. When you get the carpet swatches, take them to your home and place them on the floor of your living room. It may sound silly but walk across them a few times and see which one feels more acceptable.

2. Because texture can also affect color, color should always be the second step. Gather color swatches in the texture which you chose and place them on the floor of your living room.

3. After completing steps one and two; collaborate your thoughts with all family members living in the home. You are less likely to regret your decision if multiple people agree with you.

By completing these steps you can successfully choose a carpet for your living room. It is important to take the process slowly, because carpet is a semi-permanent addition to your home.

If you are planning to install the carpet yourself, make sure you read How To Install Carpet for installing tips.

Gum in the carpet is a sticky, age-old problem awaiting parents of small kids everywhere. To be fair, adults can track in gum from the outdoors just as easily as small kids, with the added problem that adult footfalls are heavier than little kids. The gum removal problem can be divided into two types; recent, soft gum, and older, hardened gum. Each takes a specific technique because of the consistency of the gum. Both types can be successfully removed with simple products which do not destroy carpet, although gum removal has been known to frazzle nerves.

Here are some simple tips on how to remove gum from your carpet:

1. First, determine how embedded the gum is in the carpet.

2. If it is not too imbedded, gently try to remove as much as you can as it is. If you must leave it, put a bowl over it to keep anyone from mashing it down further into the carpet.

3. If the gum has not yet hardened but can’t be removed easily, ice it until it freezes and can be scraped away with a scraper; some people suggest using a credit card to separate the gum from the fibers.

4. If the gum has hardened, use a type of compressed air, ideally containing Freon, to harden the gum. Again, use of a credit card is suggested to scrape the gum off the carpet fibers.

5. If you still encounter sticky residue, try WD-40 to lubricate the fibers before scraping an additional time. Make you sure test the WD-40 on the carpet in the corner of your room to make sure the WD-40 does not stain or discolor the carpet.

6. There are also products on the market for this specific purpose if you need additional aids.

The problem of gum in the carpet is an age old situation which is not likely to go away anytime soon. It is not a permanent problem, either. If you have kids and find the above gum removal tips of good use, you may also like to check out our tips to remove blood from carpet too.

If you are like most people I am sure you have a cat that you love, or love to hate! They can make your home smell very unpleasant if they do not use their litter pan like they where taught. Cats are territorial and can spray in all areas of your home. This can be very annoying and extremely unpleasant but there are some simple things you can do.

You may be asking yourself, how do I remove that awful smell? Do I have to replace the flooring in order to get rid of it?

There are some things that you can do and here are just a few!

1. One of the most popular remedies for removing this type of smell is white vinegar. While the smell may be off-putting, consider the alternative. Using a three to one mixture of this and water is a remedy that has been around for quite some time. The smell can soak into your floors, hardwood and all and can be very unpleasant.

2. Use an old cloth drenched in white vinegar and water. You should first let the area dry before repeating the process.

3. This is also a great tip for your carpets as well but you will have to use a few extra steps and it takes more effort on your part. Use the same method as above with the white vinegar and water mixture and apply to the area. Let it dry completely and cover the area with baking soda and ¾ cup of 3% peroxide as well as one teaspoon of good dish soap.

4. Using an old brush and scrub the carpet and let it dry.

These steps should get out any cat odors but if it is still present you may want to try again. Sometimes those tough smells take a little extra effort to get rid of!

Blood is a difficult stain to remove from any surface because of its composition. The hemoglobin in blood binds with oxygen to bind the substance to whatever it is on. Carpet, being absorbent and fibrous, is extremely difficult to remove blood from. There are a number of methods claiming success.

Here are some simple tips which may show you how to remove blood from your carpet:

1. If the blood has not dried, try to blot with a clean white cloth. Soak up as much of the stain while it is still wet before trying any of the following steps. Do not allow the blood to spread as you are blotting it; do not rub it.

2. Treat the blood with a small amount of detergent, working it into the carpet with a toothbrush or other small brush. Do not rub the blood. Blot the stain.

3. If the stain still does not fade, try shaving cream on it, again working the soap in with the brush. Again, blot but do not rub.

4. The next product you will try is ammonia. Blot it into the carpet; then blot with a clean white cloth. The reason for repeated blotting is to remove all that can be removed after soap is applied.

5. When you use a brush as instructed above, always clean to the center of the stain so that the stain will not spread.

6. After the ammonia step is complete, if the blood stain still persists, apply detergent directly to the stain, then blot again with a white cloth.

7. Rinse the area with clean water, and once again blot with a clean white cloth.

As long as a home has pets and/or kids, there is always the possibility that you will get blood on something in your house. While carpet is not a good place to have a blood stain, it is not insurmountable and does not have to be permanent.

A good general all-purpose barrier of spider fighting insect treatment may serve to discourage the spiders from coming around. Female spiders generally spin webs to live in; it is wise to knock down the webs as soon as you see them, as the webs contain eggs laid by the females in order to further the spider population. Keeping old miscellaneous items stored in an outside storage shed gives spiders a nice, warm secluded location to hide; watch your storage locations and try to eliminate clutter.

Here are a few tips you can try to keep spiders away from your home:

1. Use a spider-killing chemical around the outside of your house to provide a barrier against spider invasion. If you have pets, make sure you buy pet friendly chemicals or that you block any areas where you have placed the chemical so your pets will not have access to it.

2. Knock down any spider webs when you see them hanging in doorways and corners. Destroy the web materials in the event the web contains eggs.

3. Eliminate any unnecessary storage where spiders could hide and live.

4. Do away with places in your closets where spiders can hide, like old shoe boxes.

It is not always possible to ascertain whether or not the spider you see is a biting one or not, and if it is poisonous or not. Some spiders are beneficial and eat other insects, others are just plain scary! It is good to be familiar with the spiders in your midst, and not to get too friendly with them! See if you can find a local guide advising you about the spider population in your area; a local garden shop or hardware store are a good place to look for both information and bug treatments.

You are finally going to do it. You are taking the next step to adding value to your home and perhaps saving some energy as well by replacing your old window with an energy efficient window. You may have wondered how you ever went so long with old windows. Perhaps it was because you not sure how to install them and did not want to pay a hefty price to have someone do it for you? Maybe you were afraid to get the old window out and not know where to go next?

Here are a few simple steps that can get you on your way to being a real do-it-yourselfer.

1. It is very important to take an accurate measure of the old windows. Take your tape measure and size them up!

2. You can then go to the home improvement store and pick out the windows that suite your needs and budget and give them the proper sizes. You may want to subtract a quarter to half a quarter on each side of the window. Older homes where not built the same as newer ones and this could make a difference in size.

3. Make certain that the opening for the new window is level and is a perfect square. This will allow the new window to slide in easily.

4. Now, remove the old window and the existing frame. It is important to remember how the older window was attached. If the new one comes with a wooden frame, simply screw it into place. If the home is made of another material, like brick, you will need some wood blocks around the window to securely screw it in place. If you do not have the wood blocks, consider using shims. This will help keep it properly in place. It is easier to install in homes with vinyl siding.

5. You will need to make sure you have screws for this process and caulking for around the area to seal it from moisture.

This is a fairly simple process for anyone looking to improve the look of their home or just save some money on their energy bills!
