Many pests enter your home on a daily basis. Sometimes they are not so bothersome and other times they are. The pests that enter your home can be anything from home invading ants to rats. One of the more troublesome pests that can enter the home is cockroaches. Cockroaches can enter the home through almost any crack or crevice.

Preventing cockroaches can be extremely hard, however it is not impossible. By following these simple steps you can protect your house from a cockroach infestation.

1. Clean your house on a regular basis. Make sure that you sweep the floors and dust on a regular basis because in that dirt can be food for roaches to feed off of.

2. Do not leave any water or food lying around your house. This means pick up after your house regularly and keep a lid on the trash can. If there is not food in your home that cockroaches can smell they are less likely to enter your home at all.

3. Do not leave any lying water. Most time cockroaches live in damp areas and by leaving water lying around you are practically inviting them to make themselves at home. This means do not let your dishes soak for long periods of time, do not leave puddles of water in the bathroom and clean up spills as soon as the happen.

By taking these measures you can prevent cockroaches from invading your home. If you already had an infestation these steps may also help to get rid of them. Just simple things like stated above can help you save your house from becoming subject to household pests like cockroaches.

In the spring and fall many people have ants in their home. To some people this can feel like your house is being completely invaded and you have no way to get rid of them. It can be hard to completely get rid of ants; however you can follow some simple steps to prevent ants from invading your home.

Ants can be extremely difficult to completely get rid of; therefore it is easier to prevent them. The steps for killing ants involve many more chemical products. Keep in mind that the prevention is not always full proof; however these simple tips may be of great assistance when preventing ants.

If you have no sign of ants thus far, you can take the following actions to help prevent them.

Wipe down kitchen counters and do dishes on a regular basis.

Remove food and drinks from bed rooms and living rooms.

Put out your trash weekly and remove trash from the kitchen on a daily basis.

Seal all leftover foods up tightly and securely to prevent odors.

Mop floors on a regular basis with bleach.

By following all of these procedures you can reduce the amount of odors being released within your house. The fewer odors your house has, the less likely you are to have ants attracted to your home. It is important to keep in mind that these steps are to prevent ants. If you already have ants in your home these suggestions may not work for you.

Some people experience an abundance of Ladybugs at their home during the spring and fall months. For these people it can be hard to concentrate on their day to day activities because the Ladybugs are so distracting. Ladybugs are not normally bothersome; however they cause people much distress. Ladybugs can leave a foul odor or get into vents and window seals. All of these things make it hard to maintain a clean house and enjoy your home.

The method of killing Ladybugs is not easy; therefore it is easier to prevent them. When killing Ladybugs, chemicals and fancy machines are sometimes used. In bad cases an exterminator must be called. All of this can be avoided by simply following these simple steps to prevent Ladybugs.

1. Keep distance between your garden and your house. Ladybugs are attracted to plants that are in a garden; therefore they will be attracted to your garden. If your garden is close to your house then you will more than likely have an infestation of Ladybugs.

2. Keep your screen and sliding doors tightly shut and sealed up to prevent the ladybugs from entering the house through cracks.

3. If all else fails then chemicals can be used. Some people recommend that you spray chemicals around your house and the Ladybugs will not cross the barrier. These chemicals can consist of liquids or powders.

All of these methods will help you prevent Ladybugs from entering your home. Ladybugs can be as an annoyance as termites. Getting rid of termites is as easy as preventing Ladybugs. As previously stated it is important to remember it is harder to get rid of Ladybugs than it is to prevent them.

A good general all-purpose barrier of spider fighting insect treatment may serve to discourage the spiders from coming around. Female spiders generally spin webs to live in; it is wise to knock down the webs as soon as you see them, as the webs contain eggs laid by the females in order to further the spider population. Keeping old miscellaneous items stored in an outside storage shed gives spiders a nice, warm secluded location to hide; watch your storage locations and try to eliminate clutter.

Here are a few tips you can try to keep spiders away from your home:

1. Use a spider-killing chemical around the outside of your house to provide a barrier against spider invasion. If you have pets, make sure you buy pet friendly chemicals or that you block any areas where you have placed the chemical so your pets will not have access to it.

2. Knock down any spider webs when you see them hanging in doorways and corners. Destroy the web materials in the event the web contains eggs.

3. Eliminate any unnecessary storage where spiders could hide and live.

4. Do away with places in your closets where spiders can hide, like old shoe boxes.

It is not always possible to ascertain whether or not the spider you see is a biting one or not, and if it is poisonous or not. Some spiders are beneficial and eat other insects, others are just plain scary! It is good to be familiar with the spiders in your midst, and not to get too friendly with them! See if you can find a local guide advising you about the spider population in your area; a local garden shop or hardware store are a good place to look for both information and bug treatments.

Termites are a homeowner’s menace! The most common type of termites in warm, moist climates is the subterranean termite, so called because the pest comes up from out of the ground, usually in a swarm, and invades the dwelling, prompted by sensing activity. The best way to be rid of the pests is to not have them at all! Typically, as new construction is built on a property, local laws require soil treatment to discourage bugs from infesting the new structure. Over time, those chemicals become less effective and usually the services of a termite control service are required to keep the pests at bay. An annual inspection from a termite company is suggested if termites are a serious problem in your area.

Try a few of these tips to make your property less attractive to termites:

1. As soon as you find a property that you want to buy, check on having the property and structure checked for evidence of termite presence, past or present, on the property.

2. Be certain that there is a termite inspection clause in your purchase contract.

3. Keep your property under a termite protection contract at all times.

4. Do not store wood or other moist things near or especially against your house. Termites coming up from the ground can use that stored wood as a way of chewing into your structure.

5. Always use treated wood when building a long term structure on your property.

Termites cause more damage to homes and property than fire or earthquake. They are a serious threat to property and property values. Be sure you can recognize one when you see it so that you can take appropriate measures before they move in for good! They eat like every meal is a Thanksgiving feast!
